Happy Independence Day!

July 3, 2009

As our regulars know by now, we’ll be closed tomorrow (Saturday) in observance of Independence Day. We’ll resume our regular hours of operation Sunday morning at 9 AM. Until then…

A safe and glorious 4th of July holiday to all of you from the Columbus Coffee crew.

This Father’s Day, Return the Favor

June 19, 2009

Don’t forget about Father’s Day.  Most father’s drink coffee so stop by and get him some of the best in the world. We all know he’s worth it.

Even the relatively high price of fresh roasted Jamaican Blue Mountain is only about $8-10 for an entire pot. Not much when you think of what your father means to you.

So, what do you say? Want a father as grateful as you are? The best coffee around is a sure and affordable way to make that happen.

Our first video: A Day at the Roastery

May 3, 2009

We just posted our first video in response to the growing number of questions reflecting some general curiosity about the roasting process. Check it out.

It’s coffeehouse, not coffee house

Our House

Our House

Insisting on this distinction may seem a bit daft to some, but it would not surprise our regulars.
Historically, coffeehouses have served a critical function in society, offering artists, writers, businessmen, etc. a place of rejuvenation and stimulation. As far back as the 1600s, London coffeehouses were well known to their regulars as centers for political and literary conversation.
Here’s how it works:

Our coffee stimulates your mind. Your mind, newly inspired, interacts with other minds. (Double stimulation.) Then, you set out to face the day and your work, play and other interactions begin to shape the community around you. (Yet more stimulation.)

The foundation is great coffee. That’s where we come in. We order the best quality beans from all over the world. We then roast, grind, brew and serve them to you, remaining intimately involved throughout the process.

As great as this is, it’s not “coffeehouse”; it’s “coffee house,” a place where you consume the coffee. Simply put, this just doesn’t do it for us.

Our regulars often tell us the most compelling reason for their frequent visits is the atmosphere, to which we reply “thanks, but you are the atmosphere.”

We’re people people, capable of a lot more than producing the freshest roasted, best quality coffee around. We want (and Columbus deserves) a coffeehouse, and to that end, we’re discussing ways to promote meaningful interactions in our shop.

So far we’ve kicked around the idea of a weekly open mic forum, in which any number of issues (local and otherwise) can be discussed in way that is at once respectul and unapologetic.

Obviously, we’re very interested to know your ideas. Feel free to comment or ask questions. In this way, you can help shape the development of our (you included) great, indispensable community coffeehouse.

See you at our house!

Introducing the “Stimulus” Blend

February 26, 2009

Blended to help motivate and spur your creative  consciousness better than the government’s attempt to spur the economy.

This blend will give you the incentive needed to meet today’s challenges.

Bold. Daring. Nice bipartisan aroma. There’s obviously no pork in this coffee.

And it’s earmarked just for you, making it the perfect package to get you through the recession.

Wasteful? Rubbish. Coffee will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no coffee.
