Columbus Coffee Company was established in Columbus, Georgia, in November 2002 by John W. Woodward, owner and Roast Master. Having worked many years as an analytical chemist, John envisioned a new direction for his vocation and set out to share his new passion with the Columbus community (his hometown).
Columbus Coffee Company operates on two foundational premises:
- We’re serious about coffee. John is intimately involved throughout the entire process. From the moment the highest quality beans arrive at his roastery’s doorstep from Costa Rica, Colombia, East Timor, Ethiopia, etc., to the moment it is realized as rich, aromatic coffee in your cup, John is there every step of the way.
- We’re passionate about people. What this means in terms of our shop is, at present, unique. We recognize the role small coffee shops and diners play, historically , not only in bringing people together, but also in offering a venue for healthy, open discussions on issues generally thought more appropriately avoided in public places.
